People who are a victim of any crime including sexual assault, home invasion,
assault, armed robbery or any other criminal offence may be entitled to
compensation under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act. This also applies to
witnesses of a crime who have then required medical or counselling advice.
Victims may be eligible to claim loss of earnings and payment of medical
expenses including counselling. They may also be eligible for special
financial assistance of up to $10,000.00
Special assistance is available for the childhood victims of sexual assault.
