Jane joined Ryan Carlisle Thomas in 2007 as a family lawyer with a particular interest in children’s issues. She has a Leo Cussen Graduate Diploma in Practical Legal Training, a Bachelor of Laws from La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Music Performance from Victorian College of the Arts. As a student, Jane belonged to the Law Students' Association, edited the Careers Guide, and won the Blake Dawson Waldron Negotiation Competition.

She plays trumpet and is a member of the Australian Ballet Conservatoire Orchestra and former member of Melbourne Youth Orchestra.

Her other interests include animal welfare.
